Ingredients
  

  • 3 –4 mirlitons boiled, peeled, chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 celery stalk chopped
  • 1 bell pepper chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • Salt pepper, ½ tsp Creole seasoning
  • Optional: shrimp crab, or ground meat
  • Optional topping: extra breadcrumbs or cheese

Method
 

  1. Boil mirlitons until tender, peel, seed, chop, and drain.

  2. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease casserole dish.
  3. Sauté onions, celery, bell pepper, and garlic in butter. Season with salt, pepper, and Creole spices.
  4. Mix mirlitons, vegetables, breadcrumbs, eggs, cheese, and optional protein in a bowl.

  5. Transfer to casserole dish, top with extra breadcrumbs or cheese.
  6. Bake 35–45 minutes until set and lightly browned.
  7. Rest 10 minutes before serving.
