Ingredients

  • For the meat sauce:
  • 500 g 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 jar 700g / 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • For the cheese layer:
  • 400 g 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley optional
  • Other:
  • 9 –12 no-boil lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella for topping

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Large skillet or pot
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Aluminum foil

Method

  1. Preheat oven:
  2. Set to 180°C (350°F).
  3. Make the meat sauce:

  4. In a skillet, cook ground beef and onion until browned.
  5. Add garlic and cook 1 minute.
  6. Stir in marinara sauce, tomato paste, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.

  19. Remove foil and bake another 15–20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  20. Rest before serving:
